Sometimes--occasionally--you see the work of an ancient flint "artist"--you study how they crafted their (most likely) knife blades--or dart points...if you don't admire their work then you & I have very different viewpoints. This Gibson County, Indiana, Indiana Hornstone Adena is superbly fashioned. Length is 2&11/16" by 1&3/16"; the thickness doesn't go over 5/16" on my caliper--that's a perfect blend of width-thickness-length. Was the point even longer as first made? Very likely--that one little blade edge nick tells me there was considerable usage of the hafted knife, so I expect the blade started life somewhat longer--one OTHER change is that the base of the stem has a 'divot', a slight indention that I expect was made to fit on a new handle--I think they added that basal 'clip' when a new handle was fitted. The sides of the stem may have some light dulling, but it's not excessive i.e. not heavily ground (some Ohio Valley Adenas show heavy stem edge grinding).
