81475-Lean Indiana hornstone Chisel use polish
No un-necessary adjectives needed, the "somewhere along my stretch of the Ohio River" (So. Indiana or No. Kentucky) produced this fine chisel made from Harrison County, IN, hornstone--3&3/8" by 1", only 3/8" max thickness (usually chisels are thicker by at least twice that measure). Run the Adz-like blade through your palm, you'll feel the use polish, flake scar 'ridges' are worn down. Was the piece used for canoe (dugout) making, or some other function? Too, why is what we'd call the 'heel' thinned to a knifeblade thickness--close up photo should show how thin and tapered the heel was made. Nice piece, you'll find guaranteed real.
