Yeah, that base is a tough 'match up'...no--or so little basal grinding that the piece has to be Late Archaic into Woodland, but not a "true" Motley point base, not a Hamilton, Smithsonia, or any of a half-dozen other point types from that era. In a fashion it's as though the point was a "reconstructed Hardin", but a Hardin would have basal edge grinding. The late B.Wilson found the point in Massac County, Illinois, along the Ohio River--the type hornstone is a western Kentucky material, 2&3/16" by 1", but only a quarter inch max thickness. Note the sharpening technique is Woodland Culture workmanship, percussion flaking, sharpened from each face out to the edge (quadra-facial)--so if that isn't Woodland work, nothing is. Call it a 'variant of a Motley', that's the best classification I can give the piece--but REAL in every detail. Shipping is $8.00 (USPS minimum these days), checks, cash, or M.O.s are welcomed however I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A Oh--one last comment, Go Hoosiers!!!
