A Daviess County, Indiana, Woodland Culture blade--the base snapped, so telling for certain if it was an Adena or even a Late Archaic Turkey Tail blade is a 'guesstimate'--there was a stem at one time, but it's been gone for at lease 2,000 years (the patina says that very clearly). The size and the width 2&7/8" by 1&3/8" could indicate either culture, so it's the 1/4" max thickness that provides the best clue as to the maker: look up Red Ocher Blades, you'll see the similarity--I expect the blade was Pre Woodland, a Turkey Tail, but that's opinion--neat piece which was found along the White River in S.W. Indiana. One note on the tip edge which has a more recent impact fracture--you can see how dark the more recently exposed hornstone is against the patinated blade. As the piece came to me some decade back, you're seeing it exactly as I first saw it--no way to guess how the impact chip occurred. Guaranteed real in every detail.
