The quartz-bearing stone is heavy enough that the piece has to ship by Priority Mail ($14.00--remember when Priority was $3.20???)--sorry for the shipping cost, USPS sets their rates, not me. The very proportional Celt is out of Pike County, Indiana, some site not too far off the White River--as Woodland sites tended to stay pretty near streams. Length is 4&11/16" by 2&5/16"--thickest in the center where it approaches 1&9/16" max. The bit, excepting one TINY flake-off is crisp, intact, and extremely well polished on both faces. At times you look at the corners of the bit to see how much use (wear) the piece had--that "inspection" showed one 'tally mark' notched behind the bit--I wasn't expecting that, it gives an otherwise "nice Celt" something extra. Seen in the photos there is a small green 'fuzzy spot' on one face--deliberately left there to show that the Celt had been glued/ silicone-attached to a green felt board--you could pick it off with any sort of hard edge, but I wanted to picture the piece like this to show that some 99% of the glue/ felt were already removed--if I left any 'metal mark' by doing so, hey, that's my fault, but it was hard to get the residue removal started. The finder had only a dozen or so arrows in addition to this piece--somehow or other I think the family decided to keep "the good stuff"--you don't put just ONE fine piece on a display board (and none of the arrows were worthy of this piece of Diorite). Adena Culture is my best guess, lifetime (mine) guaranteed authentic. I welcome checks or M.O>s but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
