81233--Illinois High end Fox Valley, great color
Shipping comes with the price on this ex Bill Pesch Collection Fox Valley--Burlington Chert, but with dark iron-rich inclusions. Length/ width reads an excellent 1&5/8" by 1&5/16"--some 3/15" in the hafting area of the Bifurcated Early Archaic Culture dart point. One basal 'tang' shows a cavity (vug) where a bit of fossilized plant decayed--NOT damage, it's a natural cavity in the material itself. The only chip (damage) is at the end of the more pointed wing, even that is very minor. Mr Pesch lived and collected the area around Mattoon, Illinois, seemed to specialize in these small Fox Valley Bifurcates, his collection had a number of them--ALL REAL.
