A creekstained Union or Jackson County, Illinois, Paleo dart, ex R. Brewer collection--tthe Paleo, Clovis or Late Paleo is a very stained Burlington Chert, the patina from the flowing water & sand polished the chert to a VERY slick finish. Is the 1&11/16" Paleo fluted, or just basal thinned--look at the pics, both faces do have considerable thinning, but an actual deep flute doesn't fun "up the face" as most Clovis flutes would. The auricles are anciently worn, little nick-offs at the end of each, but patina here, in my opinion, anyway, makes up for any ancient wear--it's real.
