One very patinated piece of Burlington Chert, this Harahey--Mississippian Culture four-beveled knife, 4&11/16" by 1&1/2", and 3/8" max thickness--really good symmetry, just well formed and showing heavy use from the five--six hundred year BP culture that made the knife. The last owner had tags reading "Gary Bracken Collection, Taney County, Missouri"--it take s a 10x loop to even read the tiny printing on the sticker--but the Taney County is also inked on one face. Note there is a heavily used shaft scraper indented just below the wide min-point on one edge--work polish is there. The pictures should show an impact fracture on one end--not horrible damage, but it's there, you know the exact condition going in...no one like surprises when you open a shipped-in package, so, I try to tell the condition as I see it. One small note--there may have been an added provenance written inside the iron concentric rings on the fracture end--someone used a marker to ink-over (perhaps) a name--I can't read through it, and the last owner didn't disclose any additional info. Every detail is guaranteed real, period. Shipping is $8.00, and checks or M.O>s are how I welcome-in payments--sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
