A collection sold from a west-central Illinois auction, I saw this small, lightly fluted point in with a group of (at best) average points. The shape alone said it was Paleo, but the shallowness of the flutes, well, maybe that has more to do with the thin nature of the piece (3/16" max.)--length is 1&1/2" by 13/16". Too, there is a total lack of basal/ lateral grinding. Why there isn't lateral edge grinding, there should be--that's stopping my classification of the piece. This one, I think, is a "brain teaser" best sent to Jerry Dickey. Anyone reading this who has experience with these small Paleos, you have some time over this Fourth of July holiday, I'd appreciate hearing from you. Best for the 4th !
