Last in an elder collectors' estate in a small Illinois town, this one tagged as being found in Hardin County, Illinois, and the finders name provided--provenance that most auctions seem to peel off for whatever their reasons. The brown patina, VERY heavy, tells me the point is made of Illinois Cobden Flint. As a Kirk Cornernotched dart--if you want to call it a Palmer, that's up to you--it does have some basal grinding, something Palmers do have but most Kirks don't, measures 2&1/8" by 11/16". It has a thin profile that's slightly over 3/16". The sharpening and use-dulling of the tip indicates slightly more length as first made. The basal center is notched for hafting--and so you know the exact condition, there is a slight wear-made chip on the one side of the basal edge; photos should show it--minor, but I try to give the exact condition on anything I sell. Note; the point is actually slick from all the years it was used--you hold on carefully as the surface is so slick. Neat feature. Shipping is $9.00, checks, cash, or M.O.s welcomed. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
