A Jefferson County, Illinois, area Dovetail, slightly under 1&7/8" by 1", and a 3/8" medial ridge that speaks of a far larger blade prior to all the sharpen-and-use cycles. Hold the point with the tip towards you and you see those strong bevels the best--they reach the tip in an almost 'twist'--that's the mark of an Early Archaic knife that's been sharpened as far as it can go--blunting the piece, making it a Hafted Scraper was about all the Early Archaic hunter had left (as an option)--still a knife at this stage, though, the blade edges showing serration. The split base shows extra strong basal polish. Backlighted the edges show some translucence--and the 'yellowing' from ancient, patinated flint. The flint itself is the Crescent Quarry higher grade of Burlington, somewhat more like Avon Chert than Crescent Quarry--very good silicate (glossy) flint. The history, that'll go with the package.
