Made of what seems to be a heat treated Avon Chert--darker than most Avon, but being a Bond County, Illinois, area find, Avon would be in the distribution range for Avon to be used--anyone thinks they can pick out and exactly identify EVERY chert, there are just too many chert deposits for that to be possible. Length of this "Late Hopewell" Lowe (or Steuben) Point is 2&7/16" by 1&1/16"--thickest single spot is 1/4" (in the very center). This particular thin example, there is no basal edge grinding--some of these late period points have grinding, but that 'finish out' trait wasn't used by this hunter/ knapper. There is one small basal corner nick, old, old damage from use. Patina is excellent, the point is 100% real. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are the ways to pay. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
