At 4&5/16" there is 'respectable length' to this Early Archaic Period Cobbs Knife--width is a fraction under 2", and slightly over (only) 3/8" thickness at the single thickest spot--VERY proportional. The piece came from a Martin County, Indiana, based collection, made from what appears to be our Harrison County, Indiana, found Muldrough Chert--mottled in color, some pieces, particularly from Kentucky, it looks more red, but still mottled. The tip is an inclusion of white flint, it is NOT broken or restored, with a darker vein of material angling across the blade. The shaft sharpening indention on one blade edge is a 'secondary feature' to the knife--maybe it started as a chip, but the 7500BP hunter found a use for it--you can feel work polish. Both left blade edges show strong bevels so there were multiple sharpenings of the blade--FINE pressure chipping along those blade edges--nice knife that is guaranteed authentic in every detail. Shipping is $9.00 (blame the post office, not me, I charge what they charge me). I take checks or money orders, but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
