Shipping included on this thin Sangamon County, Illinois, flint knife, 3&1/4" by 1&1/2", thickest single spot is 3/8" on a stack, but thinner (1/4") toward tip and base. The flint is in the hornstone 'family', with some white fossil inclusions. Likely there's a separate name for this variety of fling (besides hornstone), but color and luster are equivalent. The center of the blade has larger (percussion) chips, but there is some fine pressure chipping on the knife edges. If I'm to 'classify' the piece I'd include it in the Early Archaic Cobbs Knife category--well made, real. I welcome checks, cash, or M.O.s but do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
