A piece I added to my collection a quarter century back--ex John Duncan, so I assume it was from the French Lick, Indiana, area same as he was. The hornstone Cornernotch (or Pinetree) measures 1&3/4" by 1", and thinness is right on 3/16" max thickness--one great small Pinetree Dart point. The basal edge has a little (not much) basal edge grinding, you can feel the grinding more on the corners than on the center of the base. Now, account for the red tip--I'm not sure I have an answer, Indiana Hornstone isn't noted for red inclusions, so the Early Archaic knapper may have located and used a lesser-known hornstone source for the flint. It's real, guaranteed authentic in every detail. Note the very tip does have a small use-made chip--like sooo many points the tip got used as a polishing tool. You'll feel the use wear (polish). Shipping is $7.00, checks or M.O.s are how I welcome payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payments--Roy A.
