I've seen needles (at my doctors' office) that are more dull than this St Claire County, Illinois Etley preforator--Burlington Chert, 1&1/2" by 1&1/16". Seems likely the side of the blade was also used as a shaft scraper, polished from long usage along that indented edge--and a somewhat serrated opposite edge--a multi-function tool, authentic in every detail.
