Out of the collection of a Central City--Muhlenberg County, Kentucky collector, Chris Borden--frames he sold off years before his death. Chris found a LOT of flint in Muhlenberg and Christian Counties, Kentucky--but he also liked to "patch" (with Bondo and watercolor) little nicks--two small spots on this Lost Lake, a basal corner and a barb end (the other three 'cardinal points' are intact). His patching wasn't to be restoration, it was simply to show how the piece would have looked--easily removed and proper restoration is possible if you so choose--in the twenty years I've had the flint, hey, I could live with it as-is...but that's an individual thing--some collectors can appreciate a piece with ancient use-made damage, others want everything intact. Decide for yourself if you buy the point--3&1/4" by 1&1/8"--thin, never reaches even 5/16" max thickness; basal edge is ground, the bevels are excellent. I'll classify the flint as "a form of Hornstone" but there may be some sub-group name for the flint, too. Shipping is $9.00. Payments: please note I do NOT use paypal-type services, but I DO welcome checks, money orders, or cash--Roy A.
