82107--Two decent Hopkins Co.,Kentucky points
Half a dozen years back a local friend bought a small collection out of Hopkins County, Kentucky--kept the ones he wanted offered the rest to me--for whatever reason I never got around to listing these two--both are Late Archaic-leading-into-Woodland point forms--Big Slough---or even Mud Creek (seems like they could find a better name for that variety, but I'm not the one who 'names' point styles). Neither piece shows any basal grinding, but yet they're BOTH better made than the point names would imply--you look how they're knapped, how they're 'balanced', the quality of workmanship, the artistry shows. Length are 2&3/4" on the red/ sort of red chert point, and 2&1/2" on what looks like a very, very patinated Hornstone variety. The patination on each is unmistakable--they're real.
