82605--Calloway County, MO, Hardin-type point
Out of a small town (and creek) of Auxvasse, Missouri, an estate piece I came by several years back--a lot of flint, most being Burlington Chert as is this Hardin--heavily sharpened until the length is slightly under 2& by a wide 1&9/16"--the center thickness goes a fraction over 3/8", so that must have been one impressive blade as the Early Archaic hunter first knapped it. The basal edge, the sides of the stem show some edge grinding--not heavy, but definitely ground. The finder must have had the piece glued to a board as there is a small bit of glue still on the one face--should soak away easily. The tip is dulled from use as a buffing edge, it gave the tip edge a use polish. Authentic piece. Shipping is $9.00, checks or M.O.s are welcomed, however I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
