A Shelby County, Indiana, hornstone Hopewell, a dark, glossy form of Hornstone, 2&9/16" by 1&5/16", but only 1/4" max thickness--thin, well patinated blade on this Hopewell hafted knife. The basal edge shows some "use dulling" but no obvious edge grinding--and that's correct for most Hopewell points. It looks like the side with the worn-away barb was the more heavily used cutting edge--it received more sharpenings of that edge. Some of the much used edge has what I recognize as heat pop-outs---might be an interesting story, what happened to get the blade edge that super hot that the flint was exfoliating. Patina is there, every detail is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $8.00, with checks or M.O>s the ways to buy the piece. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
