A Spencer or Perry County, Indiana, creek find--a Kirk Snap Base with staining that only comes from creeks. The flint is in the Hornstone 'family', but well, it shows as much cortex as higher grade flint inclusions--I hate to knock any point I list, but if you're looking for authenticity--you found it...on the other hand, if you want beauty and high-end knapping, better look elsewhere, lol. I get 2&9/16" by 1&7/16" on my caliper with thickness not quite reaching 3/8". The one "plus" I'll give this hard flint, it really supported the blade edge serrations. Was there a Kirk Cornernotched stem at one time--yes, but it was snapped, and with a long-enough blade merely re-hafted with a slightly higher tie-on along the blade edges--note the dark auricle (barb) where a slight indention tells you where sinew was wrapped on the blades' 'second go-around'. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are how I welcome payments. Please note I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
