So--last owner tried to restore the basal corner with some sort of "waxy" product--some sort of silicone??? It looks like he put it on the tip as well, covered over a "halfway salvaged" tip--whatever product he used stained the old flake scars, made it look like it's modern rechipping--which it isn't. For the price, this Stilwell would be well worth restoring--good length at 3&1/8" by 1&5/16". The flint (being from a north central Indiana collection) is either Kenneth Chert or something very similar--very mottled color. A collection catalog number is inked on one side, covered in glue--you could use various chemical removers, but ink is very, very hard to 100% remove from flint, flint being more porous than you'd expect.
