A Shelby County, Indiana, listed Hopewell Point--or hafted knife, depends on how you want to classify the 3&15/16" Indiana Hornstone point. The piece was knapped some 1500--1800BP by a skilled flint knapper, he took a very large nodule of Indiana Harrison County Hornstone, split and worked a long blade across the blue quartz crystal center of the nodule--see the one wing or shoulder, the blue 'center of nodule' quartz inclusion is all the way at the bottom of the wing & stem--that was a huge nodule, and just splitting it open took some incredible work (pounding, and more flying-off flint flakes that you could count)...makes me wonder how many ancient knappers, no protective goggles, were one-eyed--give them credit, it was tough work. The big knife has a small chip off the base of the stem, but that's about the only damage to be found--the flaking, being Hopewell, is mostly percussion chipping, but there is excellent pressure flaking up near the tip. Patina is GREAT, every detail is guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are how I welcome-in payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
