Sold at an auction with absolutely no provenance--the catalog numbers providing no help as they (E" series) was used on all different sorts of flint, Indiana pieces, blades that are either Kentucky or TN, maybe even some Ohio flints--this one I'm making an assumption, and if I'm wrong I'll readily admit it--a heat treated Flint Ridge Late Archaic stemmed point--there being no detectible stem edge/ basal grinding, the Pickwick--Ledbetter point cluster. Length is 2&3/4" by 1&5/8", 3/8" max thickness in the hafting area. The flint is very translucent--see the back-lighted photo--course that also shows the tip and barb restoration, a "waxy" material that's also translucent. In a way the material feels like a silicon--maybe IS, I can only guess at the restorer, the material they used--and how they 'colored' the restoration--decent restoration even if not museum-grade restoration, the tip and barb end too 'blunt' to do more than imitate what the missing pieces were like--bluntness could be dulled from repeated handling, too, lol. The point itself, it's guaranteed real----and as clearly described as I'm able. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s (plus cash) are the methods I welcome-in payments. Sorry, I use no paypal-type services--Roy A.
