The late B. Wilson's artifact collection included this unusual fossil in with a group of Ohio River-found points and bone awls--the resemblance to an ear of corn gave it a place on the computer monitor stand I stack-up with what catches my collecting interest--it finally got washed of the sandy river soil that was lodged in the coral(?) 'pockets'...so if there's a bit of moisture still there, you'll understand what you're seeing. Length is only 1&7/16", and being slightly rectangular, 1&1/16" by 7/8". If my camera catches it in morning sunlight there are numerous quartz crystals that sparkle--every artifact group seems to carry with it something that leaves you with a "That's neat"--this one from Bob's collection did that. Shipping is $8.00 (sorry, that's as cheap as I can send a box through USPS these days). I welcome checks, cash, or money orders, but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
