Closest provenance I can provide is that I bought the piece from a St. Claire County, Illinois, collector about 1998--had Jerry Dickey paper the piece fifteen years back. Instead of Clovis, which is what I assumed the piece to be, Jerry called it a Holcombe Point--another point n the "fluted point tradition"--2&3/16" by 1&1/16", and with a thick center due to a stack in the flint at 7/16". Jerry didn't attempt to identify the chert, but my 'take' is that it's related to the Mozarkite Chert family--higher grade flint at the top, grainy chert at the base. The photos should show a bare attempt at fluting--marginal attempt at basal and lateral grinding, too. Yes they did 'some' grinding, but barely more than dulled in the hafting regions. The point and the COA will ship separately so the certificate doesn't bend--I'll pay the shipping. For payment I accept checks or money orders, but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
