Castroville Drill
TX1348
This Castroville Drill was recovered in Central Texas. It is made from a relatively clean piece of Edwards Brown Chert, without many inclusions.
The Castroville is a Late Archaic to Woodland tool form.
(4,000 to 1,500 BP) It tends to be beefier as a drill, and it could be used with or without hafting, however hafting would have created much more mechanical advantage for the user.
