Shipping cost is included with the price on this Montgomery County, Illinois collection Celt. I don't know how 'scientific' the name is, but a very elderly collector sold me a piece made of the same form of granite--I couldn't have been more than twenty at the time, so we're talking over a half century (damn that's old)...he called it "Wire Granite". Look at the very tiny 'wires" in the granite, you'll understand his term. One side shows some very light farm-made scratches, but that's the only damage to the 4&5/16" by a wide (at the bit) 2&11/16"--caliper reads the max thickness at 1&3/8" (in the center). If the photos don't show it the Woodland Culture maker spent considerable time polishing the Celt--the entire surface, even the slightly angled heel, it's polished. The finder had a number of very good Celts in his small collection--I think this was the best made of them--nice piece, every detail guaranteed authentic. You can pay by check or money order, but I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
