Burlington Chert, heavy, heavy patina on this Sangamon County, Illinois Pinetree--just a corner of the base still has the basal grinding, the other side of the base had a use-made fracture some 7500 years ago. The tip has a modern-made farming (or handling) ding, the piece out of an estate, bagged up with a whole 'slew' of field finds. The pic taken from tip down should show the excellent Early Archaic flaking work--skilled, by anyone's estimation. Where there are modern-made chips you can see the much brighter 'fresh' Burlington chert--2" by 1&1/4", only 1/4" max thickness. Shipping is $8.00 (USPS minimum), and I welcome checks or M.O.s--sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
