The Late Dr. Skaggs had this triangle in his collection at his first auction a half-dozen years back--it was in a small frame with some Gallatin County, Illinois, pieces. Ask the flint type and I'll readily admit I can't say--the bright reds make me thing the material was heat treated, though. There may have been a stem at one point in time, as along the heavily ground basal edge are spaced-apart indentions that I think were 'notches'. Was the piece picked up by a later culture and utilized or was the basal grinding done by the Early Archaic maker (flaking seems to be E. Archaic pressure chipping)--again, I can only tell you what I know of the point, how I acquired it--neat, thin piece, though(3/16" max thickness). Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are the payment options. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
