A mix of flint types, a mix of ages--but every point guaranteed ancient. These come from a family collection that grew as the family moved around Perry and Spencer Counties, S.W. Indiana--the group is composed of the various flints found in the area: grey Hornstone, the fossil-speckled chert (Harrodsburg Chert), Derby Chert (found in Perry County) and Spencer County-found Holland Chert--I'll label each point before I send them out. The wide fossil chert snap base(2" by 1&3/8") is likely the oldest--it's an Early Archaic point form, so 7500BP. There are a pair of Turkey Tail points, Late Archaic, 2500BP, a small Mid Archaic dart point (1"), and several that show Hopewell Period point types. The longest piece is 2&5/16", but whether it was a point or a knife is debatable--flaking looks like the pressure chipping from the Early Archaic, as well as the lateral edge grinding around the base--sometimes, just 'putting a name on them' is the hardest when points have seen so much ancient use and repair (salvage)--unless a tribe lived near a flint source their tools got used until exhausted. Shipping is $9.00 to try to keep up with USPS postage rates. I welcome checks, I welcome money orders, but I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
