This Harpoon head appears to be made of Fossil Bone and contains a slate point. The hole in the head was for attaching a line. The harpoon head would separate from the shaft, and the fish or animal would be pulled in using the line attached to the harpoon. This item was found on St. Lawrence Island, Alaska.
