Authenticity is not a question, both the patina of the granite/ porphyry are correct, the angle-drilling of the suspension hole are correct--it should almost NEVER be straight-thru, but something about the piece convinces me it's Central American or Aztec in origin--the shape, the thickness (9/16" thickness in the center of the piece), those are far larger than Midwest pendants or Gorgets. Too, the stone used has far larger phenocrysts than the granites that glaciers carried here from Canada, Length is 2&15/16" by 2&1/16". Again, while I'm certain the piece is real, learning how it ended up in an Illinois collection may be an interesting back-story--artifacts do move around. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are how I welcome-in payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
