An old tag reads Adams County, Illinois on this heat treated Hopewell Blade--generally Hopewell Cache Blades are preforms for a Snyders Point (North Blades), but the length here is unusual for a North, so was some other point form in the makers mind--or was some other tool type planned--wish I could answer those questions. Length is 5&1/2" by 2&7/8", and 3/4" is the max thickness. The blade shows the coloration (iron oxides brought out by heat treating) of Burlington Chert that's been heavily heat treated (for better 'knappability'). One dish-in on the wide end shows pressure chipping, but not noticeable use wear (work polish)--something was underway at that spot. Held in-hand, the piece is one large cache blade/ preform, patinated, 100% guaranteed authentic. Shipping is $10.00 due to the weight, and checks or M.O>s are the ways to purchase the piece as I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
