A dozen years back, the Union--Webster County, Kentucky, creek hunter brought me this very patinated hornstone Paleo--even though it had an earlier impact fracture, reuse, and yet another impact fracture, Paleo is STILL Paleo--and the flaking, parallel-oblique in areas-- that sort of knapping indicates a rare skill, a knapper who could turn an 'ordinary point' into a work of art. As there isn't a flute on eight face I'd type the piece as a Beaver Lake--the VERY heavy lateral edge/ basal edge grinding confirms that classification. Length of the patinated Hornstone is 1&7/8" by 7/8"--5/16" max thickness right n the center, but a very thin base. With way the blade was almost 'beveled' would make you think the piece's secondary use was as a drill--although that doesn't quite explain the tip break...or the heavy use-wear on the tip. Somehow, I think there was a "third use" left to understand...maybe that's the trick, figuring out how the Paleo hunter thought. Authentic, and guaranteed so for as long as I'm alive. Shipping is $9.00 with checks or M.O.s the ways to purchase the piece as I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
