A Snyders that was never quite finished by the Hopewell knapper, way too thick at 1/2" thickness on the 'stack' on face shows (dark inclusion in the Burlington Chert) Length is close to 2&5/8" by 1&3/4"--total lack of any basal edge dulling, typical for most Snyders points, from my experience--how'd they keep the sharp edge from splitting a wood handle, that's a question. The piece ended up in a north central Indiana collection, but the flint would indicate it's an Illinois find. Note a 'work polish' on the inclusion face slightly below the tip--there is a 'rub polish' that shows up under my Ott Light, so it's possible this was more of a work tool than a knife or the tip was sharpened not long before the piece was lost. One barb end does show an ancient use-made ding. Patina says all the chipping work is old, it's real. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are the ways I welcome payments. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
