Another Benton County, Indiana, find from "wind turbine country", never cleaned of the dark prairie soil on the face that was against the dirt--you can almost see the point as it was found, the patina cleaned by rains, the reverse side still holding the soil. If you choose to wash the piece--I can understand...if you leave it as-is, that I can appreciate as well--authentic points, they speak to you. One tint chip on the end of a reverse side barb shows how white the raw flint once was; give it 7500 years of patination the chert is almost yellow (Burlington Chert),1&11/16" by 1"--a fraction over 1/4" max thickness. The finder 'inked' an "H" on the front--don't know if that designated found near his home, or a town. The piece is Kirk Culture/ call it a Kirk Cornernotched dart or a Palmer, but the only difference I use as a benchmark is that Kirks (as has this point) almost NO basal grinding. Palmers, they're generally basal edge ground. If you use a different classification guide, hey, it's to be in your collection (next), it's your choice.
