Save on the shipping, both Archaic Period Axes will fit in one Priority Mail package--$14.00 shipping for the pair. These come from the Jefferson--Bond County, Illinois, fields, they show the scrapes of contact with farm equipment. The larger of the two, Early Archaic in origin, (both are granite) measures 4&1/8" by 2&5/8"--thickness of 1&3/8". The more "blunted bit" axe is more of a Late Early Archaic-to Mid Archaic Three Quarter Groove style (the top is more flattened than grooved)--measures 3&5/8" by 2&7/16"--thickest on the heel where it measures 1&5/8". This Axe, I don't think it was ever washed after being found, your choice, wash or display as-is. The Axe was more of a hammer than an axe as the bit is really dull (deliberately), it wouldn't have worked for cutting wood. Both are from the same very old collector, both are guaranteed authentic in every detail. I welcome checks or M.O.s but do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
