Save on the shipping, both Archaic Period Axes will fit in one Priority Mail package--$14.00 shipping for the pair. These come from the Jefferson--Bond County, Illinois, fields, they show the scrapes of contact with farm equipment. The larger of the two, Early Archaic in origin, (both are granite) measures 4&1/8" by 2&5/8"--thickness of 1&3/8". The more "blunted bit" axe is more of a Late Early Archaic-to Mid Archaic Three Quarter Groove style (the top is more flattened than grooved)--measures 3&5/8" by 2&7/16"--thickest on the heel where it measures 1&5/8". This Axe, I don't think it was ever washed after being found, your choice, wash or display as-is. The Axe was more of a hammer than an axe as the bit is really dull (deliberately), it wouldn't have worked for cutting wood.
