From the lifetime collection of a southern Illinois, Jefferson County, man--the pottery bowl was found broken, restored--re-assembled, and cracks between various pieces patched with the "standard"--ground pot shards from another vessel and waterbased glue. The restoration wasn't done to make the bowl perfect, only to return it to "whole status". My caliper spreads to 6&1/8" wide, the bowl seems only slightly wider than that, bowl depth is right at 4&1/4"--the rim is 5&1/2" wide (OD). Frustrating that there was once an I.D. tag on the bottom and it was removed--I can provide the name of the now deceased collector, but have no way to know if he found or bought the vessel. I've glued enough "Sack Pots) (ones found broken, dumped in a sack) to know the piece is 100% real--and how the home-based restoration was done. One quick note: there were a few small missing shards of pottery that the 'assembler' had to hand make...sort of like a jigsaw puzzle with a couple of pieces gone--I'll photograph those spots in closeup. Authentic piece, as accurately described as I can. Shipping is $20--expensive, I realize, but this bowl will be packed EXTREMELY well, and that's both time and packing intensive--shipped USPS Priority Mail. Questions welcome. You can buy the piece by check or M.O. but I do not use paypal-type services--Roy A.
