Was this Allen County, Indiana, Thebes made with a full base, or was it edge-fractured in Early Archaic use--I'm not sure, I think a person could make a case for either case--I lean towards the blade never having full basal lobes. The basal edge is ground smooth for hafting the big knife, though, and if the Thebes knapper made a knife as large as the flint preform would allow, he left no room for full basal "lobes", he knapped to the very edge of the starting piece of Ohio Coshocton Flint, that's make sense. You'll have to decide for yourself, but the patination of the flint is absolutely ancient, guaranteed so. Length is 3&1/8" by 1&7/16", the thickest spot barely over 5/16". Note the tip is intact, the pics (hopefully) showing a band of a higher silicate material (quartz) in the darker matrix--and a tiny, dark actual tip--neat feature, IMHO. Shipping is $8.00, checks or M.O.s are how I take payments--sorry, that means paypal-type services are not used--Roy A.
