As little basal edge grinding as is present, it's safe to call this Cornernotch a Kirk--a Harrodsburg Fossil chert, 1&3/4" by 1&1/8", and 3/8" max thickness--that thickness, the way the point dives into the sharp tip, you know there was a considerably longer blade that was salvaged in Early Archaic use--what's now the tip was likely an inch or even more down from the original tip. It took some skill to fashion a new tip on a very hard fossil chert. The finder, Sangamon County, Illinois, didn't wash the piece, so all the original 'field patina' is still there--you see the piece just the way he did in either a field or creek. Real--period. Shipping is $7.00, checks, cash, or M.O.s are how I welcome payment. Sorry, I do not use paypal-type payment services--Roy A.
