One of those myriad of Hopewell types (Hopewell cluster) from along the Ohio River, Spencer or Perry County, Indiana--length is 2&13/16" by 1&3/16". Being percussion knapped--see the larger, rougher flake scars, the thickness is some 7/17" thick. The point was a hafted knife, not a projectile, obviously--a "Steuben" point style, related to the much thinner Lowe Points of the Late Hopewell--about that time Hopewell (as we call them) were just starting with bow-and-arrow technology, so after this blade style you see much finer worked, much thinner point types--Bakers Creek, Jacks Reef, and finally triangles, true arrowheads. They still had to have hafted knives, so this style likely hung-on for much of the Late Hopewell period--NICE piece of weathered hornstone, REAL.
